FUN at Lush's Fun Factory

A few weeks back I got to attend a party at Lush that was Fun with a capital "F"!
So what is Fun then? Basically it's mouldable soap! You can play with it like Play-Doh but it can also be used as a shampoo, a body soap and a bubble bar.
I must admit that all my creations resemble some sort of Barbara Hepworth sculpture and I tend to just squish it gleefully under the tap xD.
There are 5 different colours, each with its own scent;
Pink - Tonka Bean,
Yellow - Vanilla,
Green - Lemon & Lime,
Red - Mandarin, and
Blue - Lavender & Chamomile.
Each bar of Fun comes rolled up in biodegradable cellophane, to use, simply break off a piece and re-wrap the rest. Each 250g bar costs CAN$6.95 and is now available both online and in stores.

Fun is really popular with the kiddos as you can see.
Left: Fun being made. Right: Fun being played.
In case you were wondering about the Japanese on the packaging of the Fun products, this is because 2.5% of the sales from every bar of Fun goes into the Lush FunD. The Lush FunD goes on to sponsor charities and community initiatives in Japan which aim to bring fun back into the lives of children who were affected by the 2011 Fukushima Earthquake/Tsunami disaster.
Omg yes this event happened before Halloween hence the Halloween collection on display *shame face*.
Left: Mr. Punch soap, a boozy concoction of gin, juniper and blackcurrant. Right: Snow Fairy is back! Below: Bubblebeard bubble bar.
I am digging those retro lunch tins xD

Kiehl's Richmond Centre Grand Opening

I was invited by Kiehl's Canada to attend the grand opening of their Richmond Centre store a few weeks back. Now normally I'm about as excited to go to Richmond as I am to go to the dentist but Kiehl's lured me with the promise of Photobooth and kisses from Mr. Bones. Thankfully I had a hot date in the form of Emily from Rites of Beauty.
All jokes aside, since being introduced to the brand a year ago, I've pretty much become a die hard Kiehl's fan. Heck, even my dog is a Kiehl's fan (btw did anyone else see his photo up on Kiehls Canada's Facebook page???!!). I've found a couple of Holy Grail products from them and we shall live happily ever after in our swamp.
The new store officially opened on June 23 and is located near the West end of Richmond Centre, next to La Senza, across from the Apple store. It has more floor space than their Metrotown store but retains their signature Warhol meets old world apothecary interior. As always, Mr. Bones, the crystal chandelier and the tribute motorbike each have their own spot on the floor.
Unfortunately we arrived a wee bit late and missed the video presentation, however, we were soon put into groups and given a (literally) hands-on introduction to some of their most popular products - all whilst plate after plate of decadent hor d'oeuvres were presented to us by attentive servers, as if we'd needed any urging!
We each received a personalised skin consultation. Donna recommended that I stick with the Ultra Facial Oil Free range which has been working well for me, but to switch my toner to their Calendula toner to target my redness and the Ultra Facial Oil Free gel to provide better oil control for the Summer. I've been using the gel for the last two weeks and I must say I have noticed less oil on me face!
Whilst others were getting their consultations, some of us made a bee-line for the Photobooth. What happens when a bunch of vain girls descend upon a Photobooth? Chaos and feathers. Four seconds is NOT enough for me to put on my best pose okay??!
I like to call the following set of photos "Shorties in heels".
And with a kiss to Mr. Bones, I bid the party adieu. Thank you Kiehls Canada for the wonderful evening! I wish you all the best in your newest enterprise! See you again soon!

Lise Watier Millésimé

Last week was a bit of an oddball week for me, if I wasn't attending a PR event I was attending a personal social event. Usually I go home immediately after work to hold whichever one of their paws that my cats allow me the honour of holding while they sleep. If they're feeling particularly generous, they'll even condone to eat a few treats out of my hands!
Lise Watier kindly invited me to a fun night of vino and makeup in celebration of their 40th (!!) anniversary. In addition, they also took the opportunity to showcase their Autumn/Fall 2012 colour cosmetics collection.
Yah, you heard me, AUTUMN!! Dude it's only June...and the temperatures haven't even hit the 20s yet...please don't suggest that Autumn is coming soon... Unfortunately the weather that day only seemed to exacerbate my fears - twas yet another gloomy and rainy day in Vancouver. Ah well, if the catwalk trends are anything to go by, at least this Autumn will feature my favourite colour, so that's something to look forward to. Not that I ever look forward to Winter.
Allons-y!
The event was held at Uva - a trendy little wine bar in downtown Vancouver. Uva means grape in Italian.
Rachel, Lise Watier's PR specialist est très français and has legs as long as I am tall. Herve Leger obviously had her in mind when he designed those bandage dresses.
Lise Watier's Millesime collection is inspired by wine!
Yessss!!! Purples are in!!!!
I LOVE the makeup in this photo, I'll definitely have to copy it!
Bling fans will be happy to know that there will be 2 new additions to Lise Watier's Duo Shadow & Glitter range! Plum Star will join the permanent line and Brown Amber will be limited edition.
Alison and I were both excited about the addition of creme blushes to the line.
New limited edition quads for Fall. Les Vins (purples) for cool tones and Les Cognacs (browns) for warm tones.
Neiges EDT was released in 1999 by Lise Watier. It is a floral scent with notes of magnolia, orange blossom, musk, jasmine, hyacinth, woods, lily-of-the-valley and rose.

Stila Summer 2012 event

I recently got to join a bevy of West Coast beauties at the beautiful Opus Bar for an event to celebrate the unveiling of Stila Summer 2012 collection courtesy of an invite from Mizz J.
With Champagne and oysters in hand, we got to eyeball Stila's Summer 2012 collection as well as the new addition to their popular Travel Palette line, the Vibrant in Vancouver palette. Hurray! first we got Housewives and now we've been given our own Stila Travel palette! The team from Ardell had a lash bar set up to do lash applications with a selection of their most popular lashes. For perhaps the first time in my life, I had on a set of falsies that wasn't popping off at the corners or glued to my own lashes!
The Stila Summer 2012 collection is all about sexy bronze shimmer with pops of pretty pastels reminiscent of lazy Summer days spent frolicking on the beach, sipping Pina Coladas. Whilst Raincouver hasn't so much as seen weather above 20C, I can now at least pretend it's Summer by looking all radiant and luminous.
As if feeding us and prettying us up wasn't enough, Stila and Ardell very generously sent each of us home with a stash of their products to play with. Look for reviews coming soon!!
To photos!

I am all about orange blushers this Summer so the one on the far left is right up my alley!
Stila's Vibrant in Vancouver travel palette!
If you're familiar with the Vancouver cityline, you'll recognise Harbour Centre and Canada Place in the background!

Mei Yu, an award winning artist was there to do everyone's caricatures! Here she is busy drawing Kerri. I got one done too!
No West Coast party is complete without sushi.
Moet and oysters. Need I say more?
Vonnie being a princess and making the (very cute) waitor personally pick up pieces of sushi for her xD She enjoyed this immensely I think.
