The one where I forgot what I'm wearing in my FOTD....

Yes it's finally happened, I'm losing my mind.
This is why I gotta take a photo of the products I used otherwise by the time I get around to typing up the post, I'd have totally forgotten what I've used.
Who are you people? What am I doing here?
Oh look a chocolate biscuit.

If I reeeeally dig into the back of my mind, I think I used L'oreal Infalliables in Hourglass Beige, Permanent Kaki and possibly the Chanel Ombre Perlees green shade. No idea what I used on my cheeks or lips though. Judging by the perfect finish of my skin here I am pretty sure I used Chanel Matte Lumiere foundation.
This lame excuse for a post is up until I emerge from editing my NYC photos.
p.s. after the last disastrous post where I inadvertently changed my skin dark olive, I'm now experimenting with absolutely zero mucking about of skin colour. Let me know if this is better.

Late night experimentation and may we please win the hockey.

I had a choice, I could either sit there, and watch the bf play NHL on the PS3, watch him concentrate intensely on moving little men across the TV screen, listen to him swear as he is beaten by the 10 year old on the other side of the game, or I could go and play with my much neglected makeup collection.
hmmm...how hard of a decision was that?

Products used:
  • UDPP;
  • MAC Colour Forecast Crushed Metal Pigment Stack 1;
  • MAC Vanilla;
  • Estee Lauder More Than Mascara mascara
Directions:
  • Prime eyelids with UDPP;
  • Using a large paddle shaped fluff brush, such as the MAC 227, pat Pink pigment over the entire lid area up to your crease;
  • Using a smaller fluff brush, pat Rose pigment onto the middle third of eyelid; bring the colour slightly into the outer third of the eyelid.
  • Using a pencil brush, carefully apply Purple pigment onto crease and outer V;
  • Blend away any harsh lines with a fluffy blending brush.
  • Using a flat angled brush, apply Lilac pigment to inner corner and inner third of lower lash line;
  • Using a pencil brush, apply Purple pigment to outer third, and middle third of lower lash line
  • Highlight brow bone with Vanilla;
  • Curl lashes, and apply mascara.

These are the first pigments I've ever purchased from MAC. I've always shied away from loose shadows due to the whole mess factor, I caved this time cos of the cute packaging...epic fail T.T. Surprisingly, even though I didn't use mixing medium, there wasn't much fall out from these pigments. The only one that was not on par was the light lilac pigment, for some reason, it was much chunkier than the other pigments, applied unevenly, and had a lot of fall out. Should probably apply that one wet next time.

Products used:
  • UDPP;
  • Cargo Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Barcelona;
  • MAC Graphic Garden;
  • Random silver shadow from my 88 shimmer palette used as highlight;
  • Estee Lauder More Than Mascara mascara (btw don't you find this name kind of contradictory? if it's more than mascara why is it still called mascara?)
Directions:
  • Prime eyelids with UDPP;
  • Using a large paddle eyeshadow brush, apply violet shade to entire eyelid up to crease;
  • Using a fluffy brush, apply periwrinkle shade to middle third of lid;
  • Using a pencil brush, apply royal blue shade to outer third of lid;
  • Darken crease, and outer corner including upper lashline with Graphic Garden;
  • Apply a light silver shade to brow bone as highlighter;
  • Blend carefully with a fluffy blending brush;
  • Using a pencil brush apply Graphic Garden to outer half of the lower lash line, dip same pencil brush into the royal blue shade and apply on top of Graphic Garden;
  • Using a flat angled brush, apply periwrinkle shade to inner half of lower lash line;
  • Curl lashes and apply mascara.

This is the Cargo palette's debute, I bought it waaaay back when the brand was being phased out at Sephora. I still don't think any of the colours in the palette can be correctly described as "matte" in the traditional sense of the word, but they are definitely less shimmery than say...MAC's veluxe pearls? They also don't have the chalkiness often seen in matte shadows.
Quality wise, the pigmentation is little bit on the sheer side, and to achieve this level of intensity I had to really layer it on. I can't really comment on staying power as I jumped into the shower shortly after taking these photos. Must say, it took less effort to work with these shadows than with the pigments.
It's kind of sad that I have all these different colours which never really get see the light of day because on weekdays I'm too rushed for time to do anything this complex, and on weekends I pretty much just want to laze about at home.

p.s. Yes, I did put different coloured eyeshadows on each eye, wanna see?(omg I so need to get that lazy eye fixed!)

Looking back at these photos, I've noticed that I tend to not bring eyeshadows up past my crease. Why do I do that? It makes me look odd. I can only blame it as post traumatic stress from the time the MAC MUA applying BROWN eyeshadow all the way up to my eyebrow.
Oh well, the whole purpose of this blog was to put my mistakes out for the world to see so that everyone can laugh at me. I have no shame. Live and learn.
And we'll end the post with this:

Our father who art in Vancouver, hockey be thy name.
Thy will be done, the gold will be won, on ice, as well as thy stands.
Give us this day, Our hockey sticks,
and forgive us our penalties as we forgive those who cross check against us.
Lead us not into elimination, but deliver us to victory.
In the name of the Canadian hockey team,
"AMEN"

Sorry Pavol, tonight I'm supporting Canada.

I am a really lazy blogger xD

Hello my pretties, I trust you've all had a very merry Christmas and are enjoying the holidays before work and school starts again in the New Year.
Between all the insane Christmas and Boxing Day shopping and the mountains of yummy food, I managed to get in some quality time with la familia and catch up with some of shows I'd been wanting to watch. I am now completely hooked to the Korean drama You're Beautiful. I am a Shin Woo girl all the way!!!!But I also adore Jeremy!!And Tae Kyung has the most heart melting smile when he smiles, although I don't really like Jang Geun Suk in this series because he just looks too girly with all the mascara and lipstick. When he first appears with his hair covering one side of his face, I thought he looked like Nana >.<".
In other news, the doctor has diagnosed the bf with stomach ulcers :( he'd been complaining of stomach cramps and pain below his left rib for quite a while and finally went to the doctor last week. He's been put on medication for a month and has to watch his diet, nothing spicy, or too rich and he can't eat too much. This means that there won't be too many Nunu's Kitchen posts for a while. On top of this, his tennis elbow (he works in IT) has gotten much worse lately, to the point where the pain keeps him awake at night. Argh, I just wanna put that boy into a bubble!
Yes, I know you're all just here to see what I've hauled, so without further ado, here are the photos.

Some clothes for work xD

Boxing Day haul, mostly electronics and other bits n bobs for the house.

Some random pressies from colleagues etc.

My new bag courtesy of the Pookie and Frida Giannini xD

On the subject of Gucci bags, how's this for originality? Exhibit one below is Aldo's Bocchigliero (good luck pronouncing that!) it's on sale right now for $20.99 from $48.00

And in this corner, we have the Gucci Pelham studded hobo in Anthracite leather going for a cool $1700, if I recall correctly, it was a 2007 offering.

No, you're not seeing double, these two bags are almost IDENTICAL!The only difference is the colour of the hardware and of course the material.

Friends' kitties amongst all the Secret Santa pressies xD

I didn't realise my eyeshadow matched the kitty until the girls on NB pointed it out heheh. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, EOTD and a kitteh!

They were so fluffy!!like a stuffed animal!I wanted to steal it xD

My gift from Alienman's Secret Santa! After some mishap with the post office (I live in a newly developed area that isn't on the Post Office's GPS, only bills make their way to our house =.="), it arrived safely yesterday and I totally ripped it apart the moment I got home. This girl got me far far FAR too much!!! I am SO getting her back!!! She got me EVERYTHING I wished for and then some more!!! She got me the UD Half Baked palette!!!!! She even wrote me love notes xD. Thank you very much SH, I loved it all very very much!! Watch out for the package coming your way!

There be no chestnuts roasting over the fire at the Nunu's house, but there be some makeup brushes! Lol, I haven't washed these in...ages...ew...I know, instead of washing them, I just buy more brushes ^.^;

I thought I'd post a photo of my makeup collection as of end 2009. It's tiny, tiny, compared to everyone else's, but I only started collecting in earnest from around mid-year and since then it's been increasing at a slow but steady pace xD. Let's see what it looks like by the end of next year eh?

Whew! what a long post! The New Year is upon us, this year seemed to have flown by so fast! So many things have happened and so many more things are on the cusp of happening. The lovely Miss Yumeko is moving to my hometown (Hong Kong) for the next two years and I would like to wish her and her hubby all the best! I look forward to your posts in the new country! To my beloved Alienman and Dao, both who recently graduated from University, congratulations! I'm so proud of you both! I wish I could've given more than mere mental support through the computer during your hard times, but I'm really so glad that you both made it! and Alienman, you're now officially 2 hours drive closer to being groped by me xD. I look forward to your Only In Portland posts :). Good luck to the Russianfortunecookie with her graduate application, I'm gonna be rooting for you! I know you can do it you smart cookie you! Sooji, you have a special place in my heart, not a day goes by without me bursting out in laughter from reading your posts no matter how bad my day has been. I wish you and David all the best for the future (p.s. I had a dream last night where you posed for your wedding photo with your 4 pack of Tide bahahahahaaaa!). This is by no means a comprehensive list of the people I'd like to thank, and I apologise profusely for anyone I've omitted, regardless here's my Oscar speech: I would like to take this opportunity (omg so cliched I know) to thank the girls on NB for being there always, in my times of happiness and sadness, to my family whom I love despite all its craziness and imperfections, to my colleagues for being the best people to work with anyone could ask for, to my readers for putting up with all my madness and last but not least to my bf, the love of my life, for his understanding, unwavering support and overwhelming love, J I love you.
May you all have a very enjoyable New Year's Eve, stay safe and may all your dreams come true in the New Year.
See you all in the New Year.
xx

Random weekend post and EOTD.

Ever heard of a burger place called "Fat Burger"?

I hear they're really famous in America. Anyways, one opened close to our house and we decided to try it this weekend. Look at their menu! It's a cardiologist's worst nightmare.

This is what I got, the Ultimate Mushroom Swiss Burger. It was $7.99 quite expensive?

This is what Le Pookie got, I think it was called the Kingburger? 16 oz of meat! That's like 454 grams!! (Yes, I worked it out xD)

The girls on Seyoung's forum will know that I've been on the lookout for a bag lately, was just funny that I saw this inside a local pharmacy the other day. Sorry for blurry quality of photos, I took this with my Blackberry, but you can clearly see the Gucci print. No, I did not buy it haha!

We also went to a Japanese tapa restaurant the other night, I don't remember the name of any of the dishes except the Ebi Mayo. The one that's inside a shot glass tasted just like the dried squid you buy in packets from the supermarket!!

Looks scary no? That is soft shell crab I think.

Ebi Mayo! Pookie's favourite.

I love saba, but I hate when they cook it thoroughly. This one was too cooked for my taste. Isn't their tea set cute??!! I wanted to steal it, but Pookie said they'll notice it.

Some kind of spicy roll...I am really bad at names of food, especially Japanese food, I always make the Pookie order.

Lastly, my EOTD. Sorry about scary brows, and smudging. Question, how do you ladies get your photos to come out with colours looking so true?

MAC Devil May Dare LOTD

"Better late than never", that's what I told my best friend when I gave her her birthday present 4 months late. Please excuse the hair, and the amateur photos. Please be kind, this is my first EOTD >.<

You will need:

MAC Devil May Dare palette. (Colours used: Oh My Darling, a creamy frost; Dare Ya!, a peachy pink veluxe pearl; Gold Tease, a frosty gold; and Devilishly Dark, a dark brown with gold shimmer. Feel free to substitute with similar colours in your collection.)
MAC Sheertone blush in Peachykeen.
MAC lipglass in Silly Girl.
MAC glitter liner in Her Glitz. (I didn't take a photo of this, it's a bronze glitter liner from the Hello Kitty x MAC collection)
Your choice of foundation.
Your choice of brown eyeliner.
Your choice of mascara.

  • Apply Gold Tease (bottom row, 1st left) all over lid.

  • Apply Dare Ya! (top row, middle) to middle of lid.

  • Apply Devilishly Dark (bottom row, far right) to outer V.

  • Using a pencil brush, deepen your crease by extending the Devilishly Dark in your outer V into about 2/3 of your eye.

  • Apply Oh My Darling (Top row, 1st left) under your brow bone as highlighter. You can't actually see it in the photo...actually you can't see it in real life either >.<

  • Should look something like this now.

  • Blend, blend, blend.

  • Line upper and lower lash line with brown kohl liner.

  • Layer Her Glitz over brown liner on upper lash line.

  • Define brows as usual, curl lashes, apply mascara. I also darkened the outer 1/3 of my lower lash line with Devilishly Dark and highlighted the inner 2/3 of the lower lash line with Gold Tease.

OMG, how the heck do you blogger girls do this??!!I near had a permanent squint at the end of this session. The Pookie laughed. Please give me feed back on how I can improve future EOTD posts!!!
