Nunu's Kitchen: Hawaiian Tuna Poke

Feeling nostalgic for the delicious poke we had from Da Poke Shack in Hawaii, I attempted to recreate the dish back home in Vancouver. I must say it was rather successful *humble brag*.
Poke is basically cubed tuna sashimi marinated in soy sauce, however, you can add various other condiments to your taste.

250 g Ahi tuna steak (make sure it is sashimi grade!!!) - cubed
2 stalks green onion - diced
1 medium avocado - cubed
1/4 medium onion - diced
lime juice - to taste
sashimi soy sauce - to taste
sesame oil - to taste
nori and sesame furikake - to taste
Shichimi - to taste

  • Mix together avocado, onion, green onion, lime juice, furikake and shichimi;

  • cube the Ahi tuna steak;

  • Add cubed tuna to avocado and onion mixture;

  • Add sesame oil and soy sauce to taste; and

  • Eat.

Hope you enjoyed this recipe!!!

  1. i making week XD or whenever i go buy some tuna/avocado. XD

    1. I think you can omit the avocado and it'll still be pretty good. I just used avocado because I had lots of them hand.

  2. omg it looks amazing! I need to go get me some sashimi grade tuna. I guess I'll have to make it in Shanghai cos I can't get it here *grumble*

  3. Omg this had me drooling, literally!! Where did you get the tuna?
