Another day, another foundation review.
Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation has a bit of a cult following in the UK where it has been available for quite a while. It never quite reached American shores but is available on ASOS for around $14 with free international shipping. The serum version came out in the UK sometime late last year and finally landed on the shelves of Shoppers Drug Mart about 2 months ago.

Review:I got this foundation in shade 52 Vanille and it is a perfect match for my NC15-20 (Justine did an awesome job guessing my shade! <3). Ladies who are lighter than me will be happy to hear there is shade 51.
It is billed as a "gel foundation" but I don't find the formula very gel-like, instead I find it very similar to Diorskin Nude - light and slightly runnier than normal foundations. It blends beautifully and leaves a slightly dewy, natural looking finish. I do feel that my skin looks brighter when I have the foundation on.
Coverage is medium at best, it won't cover up dark scars but will cover up redness and uneven skin texture nicely.
Perhaps due to the runnier formula, the oil control and lasting abilities of this foundation are rather weak sauce. At around the 5th to 6th hour of wear I begin to notice shiny patches where the foundation has disappeared. Setting with a powder helps but that also takes away the lovely glow this foundation imparts.
As doggedly against fragranced products as I am, I find the light floral scent of this foundation rather pleasant and soothing. Yeah, soon I'm gonna like roses.
At $30 after tax for 30mls of product, I feel the price is a bit steep and definitely not drugstore budget friendly.
Has anyone else noticed that more and more foundations are now coming out in that size? I still remember days when foundations came in 50ml bottles...
I love this foundation, it gives a beautiful finish and my skin looks healthy and glowing when I wear it. I do wish it had better staying power and oil control. I would recommend this foundation to people with dry skin or those who live in regions with dry winters.

i remember debating whether or not i should get this but the $27 price tag just bothers me -_-...
ReplyDeleteit does look lovely, though!
ok it looks a leeeetle bit lazy XD i know you posted these pix just for my viewing pleasure. i greatly appreciate it!! got my lazy eye fix for the week, huzzah!
ReplyDeletefoundation looks mighty dandy on you. we r same shade. *team pale ftw!*
Nearly bought this last week when Shoppers had 20% off but didn't. $27 is way too much for "drugstore" foundation so I went on ASOS but it wasn't available there. The regular Healthy Mix foundation is $15 on ASOS though so I might aswell order it instead!
ReplyDeleteNever even heard of this (apart from on other blogger's pages - usually the UK ones). Did foundations usually come in 50mL bottles? I've only ever seen it in 30mL bottles and usually my 'drugstore' foundations are that price.. >.< It looks a bit cakey when dried :/
ReplyDeleteThis is a great foundation! I too, had 52, till we bought the house in Oman. I've got 53 (NC25) in the Organic Detox version, which is very nice too.
ReplyDeleteIt's HOW MUCH?!!!! I never look at drugstore foundations usually so I'm not really sure of their prices, but it feels pretty steep actually!
ReplyDeleteIt does do a lovely job of evening out your skintone though!
I need this foundation! Thank you for the brill review. I hope I will be okay with the scent x
ReplyDeleteHmm it does cover quite nicely, but $1/ml seems a bit steep.
ReplyDeleteI've seen UK bloggers review this, so I'm excited it's available in Canada!
ReplyDeleteI love how pretty and natural this looks =D It's a shame I can't get it here. Boo!
ReplyDeleteFantastic review. I really want to try this foundation! I will look on ASOS. I remember they used to sell this brand at Sephora a long time, but they don't have it anymore. Not even in the US! Wth? :p
ReplyDeleteLooks great on you :D
This product looks great on you1 Thanks for sharing with us your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of finally trying this out! I have dry skin so i'm hoping that it hydrates well enough for me ^.^
